Hello! Welcome to Savvy College Mom! I am a wife to William, mom to four wonderful children and I know a thing or two about being a parent to college age children!

When our oldest was 5 he told us he was going to be a meteorologist. He never swayed from that drive to study the weather and storms. In fact, his love for atmospheric sciences grew as he did!
I have been a stay at home mom for years so we lived off of one income, my husband's. We knew that was the right decision for our family, but saving for our children's college wasn't really in the budget. It was a goal of ours to show our children work ethic and determination. So, we started young. We knew our son would need to go to the University of Somewhere for a degree in meteorology and that takes money. A lot of money.
He started working at the age of 12 mowing lawns. Not a lot of work, just enough to get started. As the years went by, he worked more, got good grades and was involved in activities at school. Because of his work ethic, drive and determination, through scholarships, work money, overtime and a lot of prayer, he paid for his school, all in cash.
We didn't pay for any of his tuition or room and board. It is possible to stay out of debt for college (or as little of debt as possible!) and I want to show you how we did it.

Our daughter is working hard to pay cash for her school as well. Year one is paid for and we think year two will be as well! We take it one year at a time.
My goal at Savvy College Mom is to help you navigate your child to college . Whether your child is entering high school and you want to start preparing now or your child is entering college and you don't know what to buy for the dorm room, we have you covered! Here you will find scholarships for various degrees, different college costs, the jobs your child can do to earn money in high school and how to save money in college.
You will also find a variety of college planning topics from pros and cons to a school that is long distance or a school that is in your hometown, in state schools verses out of state schools, dorm essentials, and how to adjust when part of your heart is out of the home. I have been there, and we cover it all.
I have an absolute passion for helping families save money for college and helping parents through the college process.
